Yearbook name: Geoffrey Robert Nye (Geoff)
After graduating from Marshall, I spent 4 years at UVA, then 4 years with the U.S. Navy, and then back to school at Wake Forest, for Graduate Business School. From there I spent 6 years with IBM in Atlanta and White Plains.
In 1966 I soloed and later earned a Private Pilot Certificate which started me on a “career” of flying general aviation aircraft. Currenty I am an Airline Transport Pilot, and Certified Flight Instructor. Ratings include Single and Multi-Engine, Land and Seaplane qualified, as well as a Commercial Glider Pilot. This year marks 50 years of accident free flying! Amazing.
After IBM, I was lured away by Bombardier Aerospace of Montreal, and started a 30 year career in corporate jet aircraft sales and marketing. During that time I added a couple pilot ratings for corporate jet aircraft (Canadair Challenger and the Cessna Citation jets). A final tour of duty with Gulfstream Aerospace lasted nearly 10 years, before I decided to retire.
I am currently living in Eastern Pennsylvania, and enjoy teaching recurrent flying to experienced pilots. I am married to Marcia L. (Smith) Nye, and have one daughter, Kate, 26, of Austin, TX. I enjoy my Fatboy, amphibious Lake aircraft, a jet boat and some good red wine. Life is good. My best to fellow classmates.
