How You Can Help

HOW ALUMNI CAN HELP

Creating an epic reunion requires epic support

Help us find sponsors!

We know that the costs of coming to a class reunion can quickly mount up, so we’ve developed a way that can benefit everyone and eliminate the cost of your reunion ticket through sponsor ads.  Here’s the deal:

For every $500 in sponsor or patron donations you can track down, you will receive one free reunion ticket.  A thousand dollars in ads, you get two free tickets, etc.

Why are sponsors so important?  Developing a reunion requires a huge commitment, and in true “Field of Dreams” style, we’ve built a reunion with faith that enough of you will come so we can break even or even reduce the ticket price for everyone (and send money back to those who’ve already registered).

You might remember that way back in the 20th century, high school football stadium lights were not standard and not built unless funds were generated by the school.  At George C. Marshall, we took on the chore of raising money through a pledge drive, not collecting money, but collecting promises.  Within three weeks we had risen to the challenge; Elam Hertzler, our principal said “Let there be light” and lights were erected that shone brightly for decades. Now we ask the class of 1966 to accept another challenge . . . help create a class reunion that will properly mark our golden anniversary of graduation.

Your Reunion Committee has established a per person cost of $95 for a tailgate reception at the October 21, 2016, Homecoming game (admission to the game is free for senior citizens), tours of the newly remodeled GCM, and a cocktail hour/buffet dinner at Westwood Country Club.  Special group rates are being offered at the Marriott Tysons hotel, which includes complimentary breakfasts for two each morning and free parking.  During this reunion weekend, we hope to offer an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and to make new ones . . . to have fun.  And really, that is what a reunion is all about.  But, just like with the stadium lights we need to generate funds from outside sources, and we are too old for car washes and bake sales (yipes!). However, what we have gained in the many years since we were teenagers are business and personal contacts that we can solicit.

We are asking alumni to contact businesses or corporate acquaintances and ask them for a sponsorship donation.  We have set a sponsorship goal of $5,000, which will help us create a reunion of the caliber we expect for the alumni of George C. Marshall High School at a price that is reasonable and affordable.  All patron and sponsor contributions will be appropriately recognized within registration material and here on the Web site.  Consider either a greeting on the Patron’s Page, or a contribution as an Alumni Sponsor, to show support for your classmates:

Alumni and Friends Patron’s Page (black & white):

  • Business card size greeting (1/8th page) – $25, with logo $50
